Dr. Luca Bonomo

Mr Luca Bonomo is a Consultant Surgeon, since 2015, currently working in the NHS at the University Hospital Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, as a Consultant Laparoscopic General and Emergency Surgeon, Clinical Lead for Clinical Governance in Surgery and Mentor for newly appointed Consultant, also offering private practise in Dorset and London area.

Luca Bonomo has obtained his medical degree and MD research, at the G. D’Annunzio University of Chieti, with the thesis “Evolution of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy” (2002). During his surgical training, he developed his surgical skills, attending the most renowned surgical units in Europe, including experience in UK, ending his training at the IEO (European Institute of Oncology-Milan 2008).

Since 2009 he has developed his career in UK. Further developing his Laparoscopic Upper and lower GI surgical skills, among the best surgical units in UK, in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Plymouth, Exeter, completed with a Laparoscopic fellowship at the Cuschieri Centre in Dundee.  

He has held numerous permanent position as a Consultant Surgeon, at different Trust, including Guy and St Thomas’s Hospitals and University Hospitals Dorset. 

Luca Bonomo commits to teaching and training, while at St Thomas’s Hospital, he was Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at King’s College London, he held and has held numerous title and position, faculty at Royal College of Surgeons of England and Scotland, trainer at surgical centres, mentor and tutor for medical students, trainees and peers.

He has a track record in publishing edge-cut first author papers, and have presented his work at national, European and International conferences, also provides teaching webinar for all level of staff.

Mr Luca Bonomo is a highly skilled Laparoscopic Surgeon, he performs all sort of Upper and Lower GI surgical procedures, from acute appendectomy, elective and acute cholecystectomy with or without biliary duct exploration, treatment of GI viscus perforation and resection including cancer surgery, abscess and fistula treatment, recurrent and complex abdominal wall hernia surgery. He has particular interest in Day Surgery. 

Provides consultation and surgical treatment for acute and chronic cysts, lipomas, groin and sports hernias, gallstones, pilonidal sinus, abscess, fistulas and piles. He also provides first and second opinion for more complex surgical problems.
